Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her debut EP Pho, released on October 21 2016, was released by Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. On 21st of July 2015. Omen included her in Elephant Eyes the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she performed in two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. In November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, The No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. The track was released as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The song was followed by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within its first seven days. In December 2018 she was performing as a support act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
