Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her roles on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney is the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised by four siblings. While she was a small girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model for commercials, and later after moving to New York. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Delaney is well-known as an actress who has been featured in a variety of television shows, and dramas. Her professional career has been more successful than her private life. The talented actress struggled to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages fall apart. The year 2005 was the time she was denied custody of the only child she had.
